The code ships to production

What you build runs on the institution's own infrastructure, under real transaction load. A demo environment is where the work starts, not where it ends.
No system depends on one person

Architecture decisions, the data model and tests are written down. The code you inherit and the code you hand over both have to be readable.
Regulation is part of the job

When regulation changes, the system changes. That is inside the maintenance scope, not extra work.
